Peaceful anti-GM demonstrations have been met with violent repression in France - see video
http://eric.dif.free.fr/ and photos of the most recent public protest

And a news blackout seems to have been imposed now that protesters have responded with night-time decontamination.

Bourgogne GM fields decontaminated

During the night of Sunday (3 October) to Monday, thirty voluntary reapers from Bourgogne and Franche-Compté decontaminated an experimental field of GM maize (2 plots of Bt maize and 2 plots of glyphosate-resistant maize). This field of 6000 square metres, located in the commune of Varois-et Chaignot near Dijon, the largest field of all in France in terms of surface, was the last field in the whole of Bourgogne (a neighbouring field of oilseed rape having already been harvested).

This important information was sent to the newspaper "Le bien Public", to the newspaper of Saône et Loire and to France 3 TV in Bourgogne. The news has not been made public by any of these media outlets. It seems that the government
strategy is to impose a total "blackout" on night-time cutting actions, which are the only ways which remain after the violent repression of the open actions which had been announced in advance.

It is up to us to ensure that this information is widely circulated.
