As 2013 draws to a close, we wanted to thank all of you who have donated to GMWatch over the last couple of weeks, and to let you know that we really appreciate your support and generosity.

That said, we're still a long way short of the funding we need to keep doing what we do. As well as getting out the latest global news and comment, this also includes being proactive on key issues in the GM debate.

In the case of Seralini, for instance, this hasn't just meant breaking the news of the paper's recent retraction and providing incisive analysis, but exposing from the very start the propaganda assault on the paper and the underhand retraction campaign that has only now come to fruition.

And when the story of Mark Lynas's supposed "sudden conversion" to GM exploded across social media earlier this year, providing the biotech industry with an important propaganda boost, it was GMWatch that pricked the bubble with a series of hard hitting articles exposing the truth behind the PR campaign.

And even where we ourselves are not taking the lead, we still do an amazing job of getting the word out globally. For example, we've recently become an important clearing house for material countering the renewed PR campaign for golden rice.

These are just a few examples of the role we play in this debate, and of how we've assembled the world's most comprehensive database on the impacts and politics of genetically engineered crops.

But just because we counter the propaganda of some of the world's most powerful corporations, please don't assume this means we are a large well-supported organization. We're the very opposite: a tiny over-stretched grassroots group functioning on a shoestring budget and heavily dependent on our readers and volunteer helpers for support.

So thanks again to all those who continue to make our work possible. And if you haven't already donated, please help us out with a one-off or, still better, a regular donation.
