Please write to UK supermarkets, the Co-Op, M&S, Tescos, Sainsburys, and Morrisons, asking them why they are not ordering non-GM soy so that we can eat non-GM fed meat and dairy.

TAKE ACTION: Please write to these UK supermarkets, the Co-Op, M&S, Tescos, Sainsburys, and Morrisons, asking them why they are not attending this conference and ordering non-GM soya supplies so that we can eat non-GM fed meat and dairy. This is proof that there are plenty of non-GM soya supplies, and instead of misleading customers they should reverse their policies, get involved with their fellow supermarkets in Europe, who are doing a far better job, and get non-GM soya supplies into the UK for GM-free fed meat and dairy. Contact details for most of the relevant supermarkets are here:

Let's keep up the pressure!

NON-GMO SOY
ProTerra Foundation certifies more than 4 million metric tonnes of Non-GMO Soy a year!
And here's where you can obtain it!
ProTerra Foundation, 30 April 2013

Dear Colleague,

Recent news stories surrounding the plight of some UK retailers claiming not to be able to find quantities of Non-GMO Soy meal in the volumes they require might lead you to believe there is a shortage of certified Soy.  The reality is that in 2012, the ProTerra Certification Programme alone made over 3.5 million metric tonnes of Non-GMO soy and soy derivatives available.

WHY SUPPLY IS SET TO INCREASE AND NOT DECREASE
With the introduction of new countries like India joining the supply chain, and with improvements to port terminals and port facilities in major producing countries like Brazil, it is expected the figure will rise to over 4 million metric tonnes of available supply for 2013 of ProTerra certified soy alone.

TRANSPARENCY OF CERTIFICATION
As a not for profit organisation, the ProTerra Foundation has a policy to openly and publically make available information; creating the transparency that the industry deserves.  To reflect this, a full list of Economic operators certified under the ProTerra Standard is available on the ProTerra website; this list provides the full contact details of ProTerra Certified Producers located throughout the globe. We also list organisations who are accredited with the full Chain of Custody certification.

WHERE CAN YOU OBTAIN CERTIFIED SOY AND SOY MEAL?

WHY DEMAND IS SET TO INCREASE AND NOT DECREASE
In the same week that some UK supermarkets announced their intention to move away from Non-GMO feed, delegates from the Association of Soy Producers of Brazil (APROSOJA) heard in a recent trip to China that the increasing number of China's affluent population who are concerned about food safety issues, are already generating a demand for thousands of tonnes of non-GMO soy and this is bound to increase in the forthcoming years.

Sustainability within the food industry is a complex process that is achieved by bringing all players of the supply chain together.  If you want to learn how key players within industry are working towards the drive to create more sustainable and Non-GMO crops, you may wish to attend the ProTerra 2013 Conference.  Held in Rotterdam on 14th May, the event brings together many major international brands including Coop Switzerland, Triodos Bank, REWE Group, RTRS, the Danube Soy Association, and virtually all of the other key players within the soy supply chain from across the globe.

So whether you are looking for Non-GMO Certified Soy, or wish to learn how the industry is handling the increase in demand of sustainable soy for the world to enjoy, one thing is for certain, the potential for continued non-GMO soy to be supplied to the EU is looking extremely positive indeed.

Yours sincerely
