Lidl says it’s “sending a clear signal” against the use of GM feed in dairy production

Lidl Germany has announced that all of its Milbona own-brand milk will be produced from cows fed non-GMO feed from July of this year, according to a report in European Supermarket Magazine (ESM).

Lidl said it is “sending a clear signal against the use of genetically modified feed in the production of dairy products”.

Lidl’s cream, whipped cream, cottage cheese, creme fraiche, sour cream, mozzarella and cheeses will also be certified as GMO-Free from August 2016.

A Lidl spokesperson said, ”We are very pleased that we can offer this to our customers at no extra cost.”

It will also convert all its UHT milk products to GMO-Free by 2017.
