One thing that's been particularly noticeable about the commentators who've most actively seized on Channel 4's documentary "What The Green Movement Got Wrong" is that they tend to be deniers of anthropogenic (man-made) global warming (AGW) - or at least people who actively encourage the view that climate change is absolutely nothing to worry about.

Here are some obvious examples:

Matt Ridley: Sinners that repent

Matt Ridley is typical of these commentators in that his main displeasure with the programme is the failure of the turn-coat environmentalists not to have also denied AGW. How, he wonders, could they not notice "the glaring inconsistency" between the issues they've changed their mind on and "not even nodding at the possibility that if catastrophic prognostication was wrong for those issues, it might be wrong for climate change too. Or as Delingpole puts it so well:

'Had these Greenies been capable of a scrap of insight or self-analysis, they would have understood that the current (now fading) hysteria about AGW [man-made climate change] comes from exactly the same school of junk science and muddled thinking that gave us Atomkraft Nein Danke and know-nothing idiots in masks and white jumpsuits (Lynas among them) destroying fields of GM crops.'"

Ridley has since added an "update" to his comments: "I'd like to add one thing to the story below. Stewart Brand, who I know and admire, played a prominent part in the Channel 4 film. He's not a 'convert' to these views. He has always been strongly pro-GM food and mildly pro-nuclear. So my comments here were not aimed at him."

So that just leaves Mark Lynas - a passionate campaigner on climate change. Let's hope Mark's proud of the shot in the arm he's given to the AGW deniers, quite apart from helping to circulate outright lies about Zambia and DDT.
