Actions against misleading the public at Ahold supermarkets in Holland
http://www.toxicsoy.org/toxicsoy/news/Artikelen/2011/8/1_Artikel_1.html

Another succesfull action at a Albert Heijn (AHOLD) supermarket in Amsterdam, following similar actions in Nijmegen, Wageningen, Groningen and Antwerpen (Belgium).

Leaflets were handed out to the public and inside the shop non-organic meat products, eggs and dairy were stickered with 'made with toxic soy' stickers.

The campaigners did not try to hide anything: they announced the action beforehand, claimed that they would go inside to sticker openly and so they did. No action was taken against them, except some discussion with the staff.

As a result many products in the supermarket could be seen with orange 'toxic soy' stickers. Even the famous Dutch Gouda cheese could be seen with the stickers.

Albert Heijn clearly wants to avoid confrontation and discussion, but it is about time consumers are informed about the way the products are made. They have the right to know that animals are fed with GM soy that comes from highly toxic monocultures.

Albert Heijn is targeted because AHOLD is member of the Round Table on Responsible Soy (RTRS). They claim they only want to sell products produced with ‘responsible’ soy from 2015, together with Unilever, VION, Friesland Campina and others in the 'Initiative for Sustainable Soy'.

This will not change anything in the way the soy is produced, it will still be mostly GM soy produced in giant monocultures with huge amounts of very toxic pesticides. Besides, massive export of animal feed from South America to feed the animal industry in Europe and China can never ever be 'sustainable' or'responsible'. For that reeson AHOLD and alle the others in the RTRS are accused of greenwash and misleading the public.

They will not get away with this. More actions will follow.

The banner [in the image] says: Toxic soy, not responsible, don't buy the lie!
